My name is Elizabeth Rogers and I am excited to share the story behind Pure Pilates Davidson. I've been immersed in the world of Pilates since 2005 in Boulder, Colorado after being drawn to the holistic approach to fitness and mindful movement that it offers. I moved to Colorado after graduating from Florida State University in 1993 with a degree in Health Education. This helped lay my foundation for my commitment to holistic wellness. Along side my dedication to Pilates, I spent 15 years in medical sales. After having our daughters, I decided to switch gears from my very busy medical sales career and fully immersive myself in my true passion: Pilates. A work/life balance was very important to me. We moved from Colorado to North Carolina in 2011. As a devoted Pilates Instructor since 2017, my mission is to inspire strength and wellness in our Davidson community. This prompted me to open Pure Pilates Davidson in January 2024. Beyond traditional Pilates, I embrace an athletic style and offer more than just fitness - it's a holistic wellbeing experience. I feel it's the perfect addition to any sport or fitness program you are currently doing.
Sharing my life in Davidson with my husband, Aaron and our twin 15 year old daughters, Amelia and Kelly, I invite you to join us on a journey of strength and wellness. Together lets embrace a comprehensive approach to fitness and mindful living.
"Pilates in complete coordination of body, mind and spirit."
Katie has been practicing and teaching the Pilates Technique since 1997. She is passionate about helping people feel better in their bodies. From 43 years of her own experience as a dancer, dance teacher and fitness professional, she feels that the benefits of Pilates surpass any other discipline and should therefore be the backbone of any physical regimen! As Joseph Pilates wrote, “self-confidence, poise, consciousness of possessing the power to accomplish our desires with renewed lively interest in life are the natural results” of the Pilates method.
Katie’s journey into the world of Pilates began as a Dance Major at Western Michigan University. Upon noticing an accurate understanding and commitment to the practice, her Professor and Dance Department Chair asked her to TA the next semester and take on a few clients. Since then, her training, certification and continuing education branches out to several Pilates organizations including Balanced Body Pilates, STOTT Pilates, & Peak Pilates.
After graduating with her BFA in Dance in 2001 and moving to Los Angeles to work in the entertainment industry, Katie also found work as a Pilates, Group Fitness and Yoga instructor at several gyms and studios throughout the LA area including Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Burbank, Studio City and Sherman Oaks (2001-2009). She stared in several fitness and Pilates instructional videos with Dragonfly Productions including Crunch and Weight Watchers Pilates. After starting a family, she opened a small Boutique style Pilates studio and trained full time until 2014 when she relocated to the Charlotte area. Now living the good life here in beautiful North Carolina, Katie embraces the value that the Pilates Contrology Legacy has been for her and the communities she’s served. She is the mother of four and also enjoys teaching multiple disciplines in addition to Pilates including Aerial Hammock & Aerial Lyra (Hoop), Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz and Musical Theater.
Most recently in 2021, Katie began training with world renowned Master Pilates Instructor
Jillian Hessel, whose training extends to most all 1st generation teachers that trained with Joseph personally. She was a dancer and has trained and taught throughout New York, Los Angeles, Korea and virtually everywhere. Since training one on one with Jillian, Katie feels that her understanding and validation for the work has grown immensely !
Katie is excited about helping her clients develop more body awareness and strength to facilitate the exercises which become a foundation for transforming everyday movement patterns. These small changes make a huge difference in functional movement and daily life. One of my passions lies in helping people reconnect through body awareness and ignite their inherent fire through empowered movement. I pull from a diverse background to create a dynamic approach, grounded in smart principles that help people realize a greater physical and mental potential. I want you to work hard, but I really want you to also know how and what you’re feeling.
Jamie has always been active, whether it be biking, hiking, running or playing tennis. Years ago she had to slow down due to an achilles tendon injury that lead to surgery. She started practicing pilates. She was surprised by the degree of difficulty it was in regard to using deep core muscles and aligning her body efficiently. Luckily, with her minimal pilates experience and having taken a level one instructor mat course she was able to help rehabilitate herself after surgery coming out even stronger than before. She became hooked and decided to further her training in becoming a comprehensively certified pilates instructor to share her love of pilates.
She has been fully certified and trained in the Stott Pilates Method and Balanced Body. She has taken courses with the following Master trainers, Marie-Jose Blom, Jen Gianni, John Garey, Kathy Corey, Elizabeth Larkam and others and was the student in a video workshop with master trainer Deidra Bagriel for fushionpilates.edu. She was fortunate to spend two years as an instructor training center to hone her pilates skills. She has taken workshops on osteoporosis, menopause, pre and post natal gait, injury and special populations, pelvis postural analysis, anatomy and myofascial release to name a few.
She has taught group exercise classes, yoga, held workshops, worked with Boot Room Soccer Academy, observed and worked with athletes, dancers, vocalists and has clients ranging from adolescence to older adults. She enjoys educating people in the pilates method so that they can become stronger, more aware of their bodies, giving them better balance and control and if needed, help lessen their pain.
In her free time Jamie loves gardening, hiking, biking, checking out farmer's markets, traveling, volunteering, training and spending time with her friends and family.
